A current Global MBA student tells us why she chose to study online and what the benefits of the flexible Bayes Business School (formerly Cass) programme have been for her.

Josephine Tsele is the Chief Risk Officer of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), South Africa's biggest Development Finance Institution, and a student on the online Bayes Business School Global MBA. She told us about her experience of studying online:

I’ve long recognised the positive impact an MBA provides to one’s knowledge, leadership capabilities and career and had planned to enrol myself on a programme at some point. However, I found the choice between investing time in developing my career on-the-job or sitting in a classroom, even on a part-time basis, as no choice at all, especially if you throw in demanding parenting requirements.

As my banking career progressed, available time to study shrank even further. With no ability to take any time out I was becoming despondent, until I came across the inaugural online Bayes Global MBA offering for 2020/21.

I already knew Bayes as a premium business school with an incredible market-savvy reputation, but the greatest attraction was that the MBA programme had just four compulsory on-campus attendance requirements. I could retain my job in Johannesburg, attend top-tier UK lectures via online webinars, and graduate!

The webinars are at a set time each week and for periods not exceeding an hour and half— a reasonable time for my diary and allowing me to dial into the meetings from work. Meeting notes are uploaded and you can catch up if you miss class.

The module assessments and readings are paced in way that gives you total discretion on when and how to study, while individual participation in the webinars encourages focus on the course deliverables.

The groups I'm assigned to are a great buddy support system and act as a wonderful social network. We receive fantastic backing and responsiveness from IT, the library, support staff, the lecturers, Course Director and really have total access to all of the Bayes resources at a click of a mouse.

So far, there have been no downsides to online learning, as we studied on uninterrupted even at the height of the COVID-19 global lockdowns.
